Lenovo-owned Motorola could have a new smartphone in the pipeline, dubbed the Moto X 2017.
A series of leaked images have surfaced online, which suggest that there is a possibility that the company may soon announce the next-gen Moto X smartphone.
The leaked images of the alleged Moto X 2017 were posted on Google+ on March 28 by a user called Jerry Lin. Two images show off the next-gen Moto X from the front and the rear. The third image offers a peek into the hardware specifications of the impending handset.
Moto X 2017: What Do The Images Reveal?
The Moto X 2017 looks like it will sport a metal body according to the leak. Yin included a picture of the bootloader screen, which reveals quite a bit about the specifications of the Moto X 2017.
The image shows that the handset will be powered by a Qualcomm Snapdragon 625 processor. The handset will likely offer 3 GB of RAM and 32 GB of onboard storage.
The model number of the handset is Motorola XT1801 as evidenced by the sticker in the leaked images. The images also show off the Motorola logo, as well as a quotation saying "MOTOROLA CONFIDENTIAL PROPERTY. NOT FOR SALE."
The leaked render also offers a glimpse of the fingerprint sensor, which is located on the device's home button. The images also point to a front-facing flash, which is standard for current generation of smartphones. The images also reveal that the phone has a stock lockscreen.
The rear of the handset shows off the primary camera, which looks similar to that of the Moto Z. However this model has a dual-rear camera setup. One can also espy the dual-tone LED flash below the camera. The awkward position suggest that the image may have been tampered with.
Moto Mods For Moto X 2017?
One cannot espy the Moto Mods in the alleged live images of the Moto X 2017. Based on the leaked images, it seems unlikely that the current Moto Z Mods would fit in.
The purported specs of the Moto X suggest that Lenovo will probably market the handset as a budget device. While the design of the device seems uninspiring, and could put off some users, the device may find favor with consumers on a budget.
This is not the first time the Moto X 2017 has leaked online. In December 2016, a video which showed off the handset leaked online, offering a peek into the alleged smartphone's specs and features. At the time, it was anticipated that the Moto X 2017 could debut at the CES 2017 in January or the MWC 2017 in February.
It is not known when the Moto X 2017 will make its debut.
