Overwatch is a first-person shooter in which the player has to select a six-member team to battle with opponents. The objective of the game is to simply win the fight.
Fans of Blizzard's Overwatch have something to cheer about. The game has released its newest protagonist Orisa, and she is turning out to be a lethal combination of speed and power.
Orisa is the third hero to be released by Blizzard in recent times. She follows Sombra, the tech girl and hacker, and Ana, the sniper support. Orisa is the first tank to join the Overwatch team post game launch.
The new character is a flamboyant robot centaur tank with a bold and confident temperament. She is always present to protect her team mates from harm, often shielding them from enemy fire.
Here's a lowdown on some of her abilities.
Fusion Driver
Orisa's primary weapon is the minigun, known as Fusion Driver, which has replaced her right arm. It has a fairly large clip, and its rate of fire is high. Her cannon is also capable of moderate amounts of damage.
Halt: Her Most Powerful Ability
Halt is what defines Orisa. It is her most effective and charismatic attack and involves her hurling a ball of energy at astonishing speeds toward her enemies.
This connects all the enemies in range in a line, and then when the player detonates it, they are pulled to the detonation point. This nullifies the attack and restrains them.
Fortify And Protective Barrier
Fortify is Orisa's ability to conjure a shield for herself. It is her ability to withstand damage from attacks and makes her rooted to the ground. This means that attacks that could affect her movement will not damage her at all.
This ability needs an experienced player, as not only does it require extreme agility but also anticipation of the enemy's attack.
The mini-shield generator, when fired by Orisa, plants a curved shield around the character and her allies. This allows Orisa's team to shoot through the barrier but protects them from enemy fire. This is why Orisa is considered to be a vital team player, as she reserves this ability for a team battle.
Orisa's Unavailability Explained
Blizzard has explained the decision of not including Orisa to the competitive team play roster immediately. This is because they want players to get accustomed and familiar with Orisa before they can include her in team play.
"We want to give players some time to learn about and play Orisa before she's placed into the crucible of Competitive Play," reads the official blog post by the Overwatch team.
She is, however, available in the Quick Play and arcade modes of the game.
Overwatch is available for PC at $39.99 from the game's website, while the Overwatch: Origins edition is available for PC, PlayStation 4, and Xbox One for $59.99.
