Ever since the alleged first photos of the iPad Pro 2 surfaced in July of last year, rumors regarding the updated version of Apple's massive tablets have swirled as hype intensifies.
The iPad Pro 2 could be announced soon, so here is a quick review of what we think we know so far about the upcoming tablet.
iPad Pro 2 Specs And Features
Similar to the first iPad Pro, the successor is widely expected to feature a 12.9-inch display. However, the iPad Pro 2 will likely take a page from the smaller 9.7-inch version and have a True Tone screen.
It is also widely believed that the iPad Pro 2 will be more powerful than the first version, possibly housing Apple's A10X processor which should lead to smoother animations.
In addition to the 12.9-inch and 9.7-inch models of the iPad Pro, it has been reported that Apple will also be releasing a 10.5-inch iPad Pro that will feature an edge-to-edge display with no Home button.
Users are hoping that the iPad Pro 2 will have RAM that is higher than 4 GB, ideally 6 GB, and internal storage of at least 512 GB. There is also the possibility of the 3D Touch feature being brought into the iPad Pro 2, as it was not possible before due to the size of the tablet's display. There are also rumors that the upcoming tablet will have a Touch Bar, the new feature that Apple launched for the latest version of the MacBook Pro.
However, Apple has largely kept quiet on what the new tablets will offer to customers in advance of the official announcement.
iPad Pro 2 Release Date
It has been previously rumored that the 12.9-inch and 9.7-inch models of the iPad Pro 2 will be released as early as this month, with the 10.5-inch version to follow by May. Earlier this month, reports claimed that Apple will be launching new iPad models, including the iPad Pro 2, in April, alongside a 7.9-inch iPad that could be the iPad mini 5, a 9.7-inch tablet that will replace the iPad Air 2, and the 10.5-inch iPad Pro.
Rumors on a March announcement date for new iPad models were made more feasible through a couple of recently released reports. According to Mac Rumors, supply chain analysts claim that Apple will reveal new products this month, with the likely announcement date to fall between March 20 and March 24.
While the identity of these devices were not revealed, it is likely that these will include the iPad Pro 2. Such speculation is made more feasible by the fact that Fiksu, a mobile marketing firm, was able to spot new iPad models being tested in public through its tracking and attribution SDK. A total of four different iPad models were discovered, and while it does not mean that Apple will unveil four new iPads soon, it is highly likely that the iPad Pro 2 is involved.
For users looking forward to the iPad Pro 2, hopefully the rumors are true and that Apple will unveil the tablet as soon as next week.
