Verizon Motorola Droid Turbo 2 Getting Android 7.0 Nougat Update

Motorola's Verizon exclusive Droid Turbo 2 smartphone is finally getting the much-awaited Android 7.0 Nougat update from its carrier.

The Motorola Droid Turbo 2 was launched in the fall 2015 and will be one amongst the many older smartphones to benefit from the Nougat update.

The Android .70 Nougat update for the Droid Turbo 2 carries the build number 25.11.10.kinzie_verizon.verizon.en.US.

It is yet to be revealed how large the download file size would be. However, with all the features coming in with the latest OS, it is safe to assume that the file will be a big one. Thus, a strong Wi-Fi connection would definitely come handy.

What Does The Update Bring?

The Android 7.0 Nougat update would be bringing in several improvements which would enhance user experience and upgrade battery-smart features. Along with new features, the update also brings Google's December security patch to the smartphone.

Some of the features Droid Turbo 2 users can look forward to are as follows:

Multi-window mode: This feature allows the user to use two different applications on the display screen at the same time.

App-Quick switch: The app-quick switch enables the user to toggle between the currently used application and the most recently used app. The feature can be accessed by double tapping the Overview option.

Bundled notification: The software update allows the smartphone to pack all alerts from one app into a single notification, keeping the notification area clean and tidy.

Quick Setting customization: One can now add the most commonly used settings in the Quick Setting panel and delete the ones which are seldom used. The user can also reorder the Quick Settings from the notification panel.

Emojis: The update brings support for about 1500 emojis as well as 72 new ones, including the recently approved Unicode 9.0 supporting gender equality emoticons.

Enhanced Settings navigation: The Settings option can now be quickly accessed from a side panel by the users. This will save them from the trouble of going back again and again to access the Settings option.

Data Saver: This feature will help users keep a tab on their usage of data by restricting back ground apps from using the Internet connectivity.

Doze mode updates: Lastly, the Android 7.0 Nougat update brings in the Doze mode which will optimize the battery usage of the phone by putting it on sleep whenever the device is not in use.

The changelog advises that to download and install the update successfully, a user should ensure that their phone is fully charged and is connected to a strong Wi-Fi network or Verizon Wireless connection.

If you have not received an alert for the OTA update, you can check for it manually. To do so, navigate to Settings > About Device > Software Updates > Check for Updates.
