The LG G6 continues to leak ahead of its Mobile World Congress 2017 debut. The latest revelation is an image of the upcoming smartphone pictured next to its predecessor, the LG G5, providing a look at how the handsets compare in overall size.
LG Prepares To Launch LG G6
LG is on the verge of officially launching its 2017 flagship smartphone — the LG G6 — on Feb. 26 in Barcelona to kick off MWC 2017. LG hasn't shied away from talking up the smartphone ahead of its media event. Most recently the company gushed about the high-quality, wide-angle camera the LG G6 will feature and also released teaser videos hinting at the smartphone's waterproof and dustproof design.
We got our first up close and personal look at the LG G6 when images of the smartphone leaked, showing the device from the front and back. The photos also showed off the 5.7-inch Quad HD+ Always-On Display in action. With days to go before it gets an official unveiling, a new image of the LG G6 has leaked and this time it gets photographed with the smartphone it's about to replace.
LG G6 Gets Photographed With LG G5
The above image of the LG G5 and LG G6 was posted on Weibo and captured by TechTastic. Based on the leaked photo, while the LG G6 is using a larger 5.7-inch display compared with the 5.3-inch screen found on the LG G5, the G6's "FullVision" display's reduced bezels allow the smartphone to retain an overall similar size to that of its predecessor.
Samsung is using a similar move with its upcoming Galaxy S8 and Galaxy S8 Plus, which will feature 5.8-inch and 6.2-inch displays, compared with the 5.1-inch and 5.5-inch screens found on the Galaxy S7 and S7 edge.
LG G6 Reported Specs
The LG G6 is likely to include a 5.7-inch QHD+ FullVision display with a 1,440 x 2,880 resolution and run Android 7.0 Nougat and LG's UX 6.0 Android skin. The smartphone will be run by a Qualcomm Snapdragon 821 processor, Adreno 530 GPU (graphics processing unit), and 4 GB of RAM. It will include 64 GB of internal storage and a microSD expansion slot.
The G6 will pack in 13-megapixel dual rear cameras and a front-facing wide-angle camera for selfies and video chat. The handset will include a USB Type-C port for charging and data transfer and its fingerprint scanner will be located on the rear of the handset, below the dual camera setup. It will also feature a waterproof and dustproof metal case.
