The Champ is coming to the house of Nintendo!
The 16-time World Wrestling Entertainment champion John Cena is teaming up with Nintendo to promote the upcoming Nintendo Switch. The champ will visit Blue Cloud Movie Ranch in Santa Clarita, California on Feb. 23 to meet up with fans to showcase the Switch.
This collaboration is part of a publicity tour that Nintendo is holding across the United States. The Nintendo Switch will launch worldwide on March 3, 2017, with titles like The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild slated for same-day release.
John Cena and Nintendo: 2 Big Names Meet
Cena will grace the Nintendo event on Feb. 23 when he visits the Blue Cloud Movie Ranch in Santa Clarita, California. The event will be an invite-only affair, and will also feature popular YouTube personalities and select fans.
As written on its website, Nintendo describes John Cena as an actor and WWE star who "is as versatile as the Nintendo Switch console itself" and with a "charisma and family-friendly appeal." He is dubbed as the "perfect person" for the kick-off tour.
Cena will showcase Nintendo Switch capabilities such as the face-to-face off-TV functionality of the interactive family game 1-2 Switch using the new Joy-Con controllers. Cena will play the cow-milking game and Wild West duel with fans and YouTube influencers.
Nintendo Switch Kick-off Tour
Nintendo's tag-teaming with John Cena is part of a three-city kick-off tour to promote the new Nintendo Switch. Nintendo will bring "highly visual, interactive living room-inspired spaces" in unexpected places like a California desert and a Colorado snow mountain.
"The upcoming launch of the unique Nintendo Switch console calls for a unique series of celebrations," said Doug Bowser, senior vice president of sales and marketing at Nintendo of America.
Bowser added that the event in these locations will highlight the features of the Nintendo Switch, as well as provide "one-of-a-kind surprise-and-delight moments" that Nintendo is known for.
The Santa Clarita event with Cena is just the first leg. The other two, which will be open to the public, are the following:
Snowmass ski resort, Aspen, Colorado (Feb. 27): This event will run from 8:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. MST (10:30 a.m. to 6:30 p.m. EST). Nintendo wants to demonstrate that Switch games can be "played anywhere," so guests will literally play on a snowy mountain!
Madison Square Park, New York, New York (March 3): This final stop will run from 9:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. EST at Flatiron Plaza.
March 3, incidentally, is the launch day of the Switch. Nintendo's famous brothers Mario and Luigi will come to highlight the event.
