KitKat has listened to customers and is finally sending winners of its promotion campaign, the 2013 edition of the Google Nexus 7.
Nestle's KitKat was running a promotional campaign in India that allowed customers to win Nexus 7 tablet if they bought a promotional KitKat pack (along with Android branding). Customers had to text a code, which was available on the inside of the wrapper of the promotional KitKat pack, to win a chance to of getting the Nexus 7 for free.
The promotion material showed the 2013 edition of the Nexus 7; however, the winners of the campaign complained that they received the 2012 version of the tablet. After receiving several complaints from winners regarding the misleading promotion campaign, KitKat India took to Twitter to clarify its decision to send the older version of the tablet.
"We hear you're unhappy. Winners got the Nexus7 tabs available in India in Sept (contest date). The new version launched only in Nov," tweeted KitKat.
However, it seems that the company has realized the snafu and it did not want to keep customers unhappy (especially as it could boomerang on its promotional campaign). So, it did what it should have done in the first place - confirm that the winners would get the Nexus 7 (2013 edition) tablets.
"We are delighted to announce that winners of 'Android Kit Kat promotion' will receive the new 2013 Nexus 7 tablet. If you have received an ebarlier version of the device, we will contact you separately to get it replaced. The delivery schedule for the new dispatches as well as the procedure to be followed for replacement will be communicated shortly," per KitKat India (on Facebook).
KitKat, in partnership with Android, had announced that the Android KitKat promotion will kick off on September 6 and will run through January 31, 2014. The contest is offering 1,000 Nexus 7 tablets; 150,000 $5 Google Play credits; and 20,000 coupons for a free 8-ounce bag of Kit Kat Minis.
Both Android and KitKat have a strong presence in India and this promotion will help the latest version of Android as well as the chocolate-covered wafer biscuit bar confection get more loyal customers in the long run.
