Big news from Blizzard at BlizzCon 2014. On Nov. 7, the company announced their first game franchise in 17 years: Overwatch.
The game will be a multiplayer shooter, featuring over-the-top characters with a variety of abilities. Blizzard unveiled the CGI cinematic game trailer during the event: Overwatch shows an elite team tasked to end the war. When the war did end, the project was terminated. Half of the Overwatch gang became mercenaries.
After the trailer, a gameplay preview was shown and featured different characters and classes and their various abilities.
One of the characters named Tracer is an ex-test pilon who can teleport, reverse time coming with his skills of dropping bombs. There is also Winston, an ape with a very high IQ and equipped with a jetpack to move around during battle.
The locations of the battles include the streets of London and pyramids of Egypt, and even the inside of Japanese temples and Persian marketplaces.
Blizzard says the game will be released "sooner than you would expect" and you can already start signing up for the Beta, which will be released in 2015. Simply go to the official website for Overwatch and click on the upper right yellow button that says "Beta."
Sign in to your Battle.net account using your details and authenticator if needed or sign up for a free account. If you're one of the lucky few to be granted access, your invitation will be emailed to you when the Beta is released.
At the moment, Overwatch has only been confirmed for PC, but you can also run to BlizzCon, which is on until Nov. 8 only, to try the game and the 12 playable heroes.
