Apple BeatsX Earphones Finally Go On Sale After Long Delay

Apple's much-touted BeatsX wireless earphones were supposed to launch in 2016, but suffered a long delay. At last, the BeatsX are now on sale.

The BeatsX earbuds debuted alongside the iPhone 7 and iPhone 7 Plus back in September 2016, but had been MIA without many explanations from Apple. Even the AirPods launched in the meantime, but the BeatsX were still nowhere to be found.

The company finally announced earlier this week that after the extensive delay, it will start selling the elusive BeatsX on Feb. 10 and the day has now come.

Apple BeatsX Release: On Sale At Last

The BeatsX wireless earphones are now available for purchase for $149.95 through Apple's website. The white and black models are listed as available for shipping in one business day, while the gray and blue models will take seven to 10 business days to arrive.

Interested customers can also choose to pick up the earphones at their local brick-and-mortar Apple Store. Beats by Dre also announced the launch on Twitter.

Apple BeatsX Features: W1, Fast Fuel And More

The BeatsX earphones are part of the Beats lineup and are among the four Apple gadgets to rock its W1 chip, which is designed to facilitate Bluetooth connections between Apple devices and offer a strong pairing with all compatible audio hardware.

The Beats Solo3 over-the-ear headphones were the first to launch with the new W1 chip on board, raising plenty of interest. The Powerbeats3 followed in November 2016, while the AirPods arrived in mid-December, after a months-long delay.

The W1 chip also allows for greater battery efficiency, and enables users to pair the earphones with several iOS devices at the same time and seamlessly switch between them.

At the same time, the BeatsX come with Fast Fuel quick charging technology, which enables them to get two hours' worth of battery life with just a five-minute quick charge. This means that the BeatsX can be ready for action in minutes even if they're completely drained.

The BeatsX raised interest not just because of Apple's W1 chip for better connectivity, but also thanks to the tethered Flex Form design with magnetic earbuds that allows for more convenience and comfort.

Apple AirPods Alternative

The BeatsX are mostly seen as an alternative to the Apple AirPods, particularly for those worried about losing the AirPods. The earbuds of the BeatsX are connected with a cord and an in-line remote, and the necklace-style design makes it easier to keep them safe. The BeatsX also feature a longer battery life compared to the Apple AirPods, lasting for up to eight hours on a single charge as opposed to the AirPods' five-hour performance.

"Experience authentic, clear sound throughout your day with up to 8 hours of battery life," Apple touts.

The Apple BeatsX earphones come with interchangeable eartip sizes to ensure a good fit, as well as removable secure-fit wingtips.

"BeatsX works as hard as you do. Sleek, light, and compact, these earphones are your perfect wireless companion," Apple further points out.
