The Apple AirPods have already been available in the latter part of 2016 but its marketing is only going full blast this January. To kick things off, the Cupertino-based company has released its first official ads, which has so far earned raves from enthusiasts.
Apple: AirPods Are Magic
If you have not yet seen the video clip airing in your favorite network, Apple primarily seeks to sell the wireless in-ear headphones as a practically magical device.
The visual narrative depicted a perfectly ordinary day for a pedestrian. Things, however, got more interesting when he popped out his AirPods. After, the world got its groove so to speak and then the walking man, who turned out to be the dancer, Lil Buck, began dancing his way forward to the tune of Marian Hill's "Down" song on a wall, a car door, a glass panel, upside down.
The goal seems focused on depicting freedom and untethered movement. You can move your hands around and have them entangled in the process. You can spin around and do cartwheels and there are no wires to hamper you here.
Does that constitute magic?
Cool AirPod Features
If you are a fan, then the AirPods will probably feel that way for you. But if you have been a jaded tech consumer, who believe has seen all sorts of innovations, then the Bluetooth headphone will simply get lumped with all the wireless headsets that proliferate the market today.
There is one bit about the ad though that feels quite cool if not entirely truly breathtaking. It involves the AirPod case, which unfortunately got a mere two-second exposure. It works seamlessly with the iPhone 7, triggering immediate response once opened. The device is also innovative since it serves as a charging device at the same time.
Some sources believe that Apple is only rolling the ad out at this point because of the limited availability of the AirPods, which is aggravated by strong demand. However, the wireless headsets are still hard to come by at this point, which has led some observers to scratch their head in consternation.
Overall, if you are like some sources who recall the vibe of the iconic iPod ads of yesteryears in the latest AirPod video, you should rejoice because you will get to see its expanded version, once you collectively consider the three other available snippets at Apple's YouTube channel. The one with a full one-minute spot is shown below while the others are snippets that detail the AirPods' selling points: seamless pairing, Siri support, and proximity sensor.
On a aside note: interested buyers should be aware of several downsides to the AirPods, which include how they can easily be misplaced or stolen. Some users are also reporting battery drain problem.
