Rumors are circulating that Microsoft has decided to close the curtains on the Lumia 950 and Lumia 950 XL.
The rumors gained traction after Microsoft's online store listed the two smartphones as out of stock for the last three months.
Now it has emerged that both listings for the Lumia 950 and its bigger sibling the Lumia 950 XL are gone from Microsoft's UK online store.
While the Lumia handsets have been completely deleted from Microsoft's UK online store, some of the models are still available in the company's online stores across the world.
Apparently, this could be a major step towards the termination of these models. So, the ones who are still searching for these models and want to buy them, will only have third-party retailers and sellers as their saviors.
The End Of The Road For Lumia 950 And Lumia 950 XL?
The last time Microsoft had the Lumia 950 XL available for its customers was towards the end of November. This happened after the prices of the models were reduced to £289 (approximately $361) which included a free display dock.
Currently, Microsoft has just the HP Elite X3 Windows 10 phone available for purchase on its UK online store.
The Microsoft U.S. store, on the other hand, still lists the Lumia 950 XL - the unlocked variant - as available for purchase for $499. It is offering both the white and black options. This store also has the smaller Lumia 950 up for grabs for $399 for the unlocked version. The no-contract AT&T variant of the smartphone is also available for $298.99 in white and black.
This would give consumers some hope that it could be company call that is limited to its UK store.
Microsoft has always been quite tight-lipped regarding any details about its smartphone plans. So, although the Lumia 950 and Lumia 950 XL are supposedly out of stock, sources are still doubtful whether this could be considered the end of the Lumia brand.
The fact that Microsoft has been struggling to keep up with these models' demand is evident from the frequent out of stock and back in store news of the Lumia brand.
Rumors are rife that Microsoft is planning to switch its focus to the highly anticipated Surface Phone, which could usher a fresh beginning for the company.
With such an uncertain future, Lumia phones are now available with third-party retailers in the UK. Carphone Warehouse, which is supposed to be UK's largest independent handset retailer, is reportedly not selling the Lumia 950 XL, but continues to offer the unlocked model of the Lumia 950 at £399.99 (approximately $499).
