Fiat Chrysler Automobiles (FCA) has shared details on its upcoming SUV the 2018 Dodge Durango SRT ahead of the 2017 Chicago Auto Show, which will be held on Feb. 9. The new vehicle from Fiat will be showcased for the first time during this show.
The company claims in the press release that the 2018 Durango SRT would be the best SUV in its class in the U.S. in terms of performance and power.
"The new 2018 Dodge Durango SRT is America's fastest, most powerful and most capable three-row SUV," said Tim Kuniskis, Head of Passenger Cars Brands, Dodge, SRT, Chrysler and Fiat- FCA North America.
The Features
The high-performance vehicle from Dodge will feature some state of the art technology under the hood. It will run on a Hemi 6.4 liter V-8 engine that can generate 475 horsepower and 470 pound feet of torque. The car would have an eight speed transmission.
The SUV weighs at a massive 5,510 pounds but still manages to go from 0 mph to 60 mph in just 4.4 seconds. The company asserts that the SUV may be able to run a quarter of a mile in just 12.9 seconds. The car has the highest towing capability when compared to those of other three-row SUVs in the country. The 2018 Durango can tow 8,600 pounds.
The suspensions in the latest model of Durango will have stiffer bushings, higher spring rates, and adjustable dampers.
The 2018 Durango SRT will feature Brembo brakes which are able to stop the vehicle at merely 115 feet coming from a speed of 60 mph.
The interior of the vehicle comes with heated and ventilated chairs having suede leather coverings. A Demonic Red Laguna leather variant will also be available.
Other features include a cool air duct which ensures that the engine remains cool and performs at its best. The vehicle also offers seven distinct SRT drive modes which can be utilized in different situations for enhanced performance and comfort.
The press release also stated that the SUV would come in 11 different colors such as Billet Clear Coat, Bruiser Grey Clear Coat, Dark Black Clear Coat, Granite Clear Coat, Ocean Blue Pearl Coat, Octane Red Pearl Coat, Redline Pearl Coat, Sangria Metallica Clear Coat, White Knuckle Clear Coat, Vice White and Blu by Yu Pearl Coat.
Price And Availability
There is no information on the price that the 2018 Dodge Durango SRT would sport, but it is likely to be revealed at the upcoming Chicago Auto Show.
The car would go under production in summer 2017 and it is believed that it will be available in dealerships by the fourth quarter of the year as well.
