I just watched Assassin's Creed: The Musical and I can't even.
The always entertaining YouTube channel Machinima Prime posted this five-minute production today, and I'm finding it hard to come up with words to describe it. The idea of making a musical out of Assassin's Creed is silly by definition, so you don't need me to snark it up for you. The actors performing the musical are entirely aware of how ridiculous this thing is that they're doing, and yet they go for it with complete sincerity.
And doggone it if the songs aren't downright catchy.
Watch it below and you'll see every major assassin protagonist from the series belting out Broadway-style tunes on stage, including Altair, Ezio, Connor, Aveline and Edward, along with a quick cameo by Desmond Miles. Only Assassin's Creed Unity's Arno is unaccounted for, but his game gets a quick shoutout at the end.
Incidentally, the release date the ensemble mentions at the end for Assassin's Creed Unity is incorrect. Ubisoft's latest, set during the bloody days of the French Revolution, will be available November 11, 2014.
Now that blasted "Leap of Faith" song is stuck in my head.
