Samsung Galaxy S8: Official Press Render Leaks, No Home Button, Curved Screen, And More

The Samsung Galaxy S8 may not be debuting at the MWC 2017 in February, but that has not stopped leaks and rumors pertaining to the handset from surfacing online frequently.

Now what is believed to be the official press render of the Galaxy S7's successor has leaked online, offering a glimpse into the impending handset.

The latest leak comes courtesy of Benjamin Geskin, who has shared the images of the supposed Galaxy S8 smartphone on Twitter. Geskin tweeted the images on Friday, Jan. 27.

This is not the first time Geskin has leaked details on the Galaxy S8. Earlier in January, he shared renders of the handset with a dual-curved display.

The image affirms some of the features pointed out in previous leaks. For example, the fingerprint sensor seemed to have found its permanent place beside the primary camera. This position was first displayed by an earlier leaked image on Jan. 26.

Other than this, the picture posted by Geskin shows that the rumored Galaxy S8 has done away with the home button and has the Samsung logo placed at the back panel of the smartphone.

The image also shows minimum or no side bezels on the device and reveals a curved front glass panel, which ties in to assertions that Samsung would deploy a curved screen like that of the Galaxy S7 edge for the Galaxy S8.

Rumors have suggested that the Galaxy S8 — like the Galaxy Note 7 — could boast an iris scanner. However, whether the smartphone is equipped with this feature is not clear from the leaked renders.

Rumored Galaxy S8 Specs

The Galaxy S8 is rumored to sport a 5.7-inch curved display. The upcoming smartphone will reportedly be powered by the latest Qualcomm Snapdragon 835 chipset manufactured on Samsung's 10-nanometer chip-making process.

The Samsung Galaxy S8, going by the rumors, is supposed to have 4 GB of RAM with 64 GB of onboard storage. It seems there will be an option for expandable memory through microSD card, but it hasn't been revealed yet. The narrow or no bezels by now seems to be confirmed, as it keeps appearing in several leaked pictures.

The smartphone is likely to come preloaded with the Android 7.0 Nougat operating system and will purportedly tout a 12-megapixel primary camera and an 8-megapixel front camera. Leaks claim that the handset will come with USB Type-C port and, much to the joy of many people, a 3.5 mm headphone jack.

The Galaxy S8 will apparently house the Bixby virtual assistant, which can allegedly handle more complex instructions than Siri or Cortana.

Release

The Samsung Galaxy S8 is rumored to be unveiled at an event in New York on March 29 and will hit the market on April 21.
