ZTE is reportedly delaying the roll out of the Android 7.0 Nougat software update for its Axon 7 smartphone.
In November 2016, the company confirmed via a post on its official Twitter account that the much-awaited software update for the Axon 7 would be pushed out in January 2017.
This news was followed up by a preview program for Android 7.0 Nougat making its way to users of the Axon 7 in the United States a month later in December. This move affirmed to fans that the company would indeed be pushing out the software update for the Axon 7 as intended.
However, now in a twist of fate, ZTE has back tracked on its promise and will not be rolling out the Android 7.0 Nougat for the Axon 7 in January as previously claimed.
According to reports, ZTE Germany has confirmed that the update for the Axon 7 has been delayed. The company confirmed the delay via a post on its official Facebook page.
Why The Delay?
The main reason for the delay is that ZTE feels that the software does not meet its quality expectations. The company, therefore, asks that Axon 7 users who have been waiting for the update may need to exercise a little more patience.
"The launch of Android 7 for the Axon 7 will be a little delayed. We are currently in the beta test and unfortunately the software, contrary to our expectations, not yet our quality requirements. This circumstance, we are very sorry about the idea of our community, but we can assure that the update on Android 7 will still take place within the first quarter. We are working hard to provide you with updates as soon as possible (translated)," noted the post from ZTE Germany.
While the company's assertions of a Q1 2017 rollout is somewhat assuring, Axon 7 users are not happy with this move. Axon 7 users have taken to Reddit to express their angst.
"Not really a good excuse. It's their issue in the first place. Plus it hurts even more knowing they marketed the phone as day dream ready and likely won't be until March if that date holds," said an irate user.
However, some users do not blame the company and understand the decision.
"They have faced a huge amount of complaints over their software so I don't blame them for trying to make things right and not rushing out an unfinished product. I'm still disappointed but I can respect the decision," said a user.
Android 7.0 Nougat Features
The Android Nougat update is expected to bring in new features like multi-window support, quick options for replying, new notification interface, as well as important system updates that enhance the smartphone's performance and stability.
Whether ZTE will push out the Android 7.0 Nougat update for the Axon 7 in February or March remains to be seen.
