A lineup of games is crucial to any new console's launch -- and eventual success. The story is no different with the upcoming Nintendo Switch, Nintendo's latest hybrid mobile/home console.
The technical details of Nintendo Switch was announced during a press event in Tokyo on Jan. 13. The event was livestreamed and covered through social media. Most importantly, several upcoming games were "sampled" to showcase the system's graphics and gameplay.
Nintendo is hoping to close the chapter on its financially unsuccessful previous console, the Wii U, due to the dearth of games it had. With the Nintendo Switch, the company aims to regain its lost gamers by attracting them with hot game titles, developed in-house and by big third-party studios.
Nintendo First-Party Titles
Nintendo is also a game developer, so naturally its own new titles will appear in the console. Confirmed is the much-anticipated The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild. Everyone's favorite plumber Mario is also coming with two new games: Mario Kart 8 Deluxe, and Mario Oddysey. Nintendo's new party game 1-2 Switch will also be in the launch.
Third-Party Developers
To attract more hardcore gamers, the console is fielding titles from several AAA developers such as Square Enix (I Am Setsuna), Bethesda (The Elder Scolls V: Skyrim), and Ubisoft (Rayman Legends: Definitive Edition), among many others.
