Kurt Cobain's previously unheard 1988 mixtape was just released

Kurt Cobain fans looking to rewind back to the grunge rock days of the '90 are in for one hell of a ride. A strange mixtape that was allegedly created by Cobain before Nirvana's 1989 album Bleach has just surfaced.

Discovered by Dangerous Minds, the mixtape has an experimental sound. The 36-minute mixtape titled Montage of Heck, starts off normally, but gets really weird and great really fast. Most of the tracks feature strange sounds from hell including an exorcism, vomiting, yelling, laughs and other odd sounds. There are also soundbites from songs by The Velvet Underground, Simon and Garfunkel, Jimi Hendrix, Black Sabbath, Led Zeppelin and Queen, proving that the then 21-year-old was influenced by these musicians.

"All in all, we sound like the Knack and the Bay City Rollers being molested by Black Flag and Black Sabbath," Cobain said after Nirvana made it big in the early 90s.

It is believed that Cobain created Montage of Heck in 1988 with a 4-track cassette recorder. The soundscape from the Nirvana frontman is hauntingly beautiful, and gives fans access to his strange mind and how he thought about sounds. Because streaming sites didn't exist at the time, 21-year-old Cobain had to have owned copies of all the sounds he samples in the mixtape.

The following is a list of the sound components used to create the mixtape:
