Thanks to viral memes, Grumpy Cat has become a star. Now the Internet's favorite cat is showing off her signature mad face in a new Lifetime Christmas movie.
Yup, you read this right. The cat with that one joyless expression is bringing holiday cheer, proving that some things are just better left as is.
Tardar Sauce, better known as the Internet sensation Grumpy Cat stole the spotlight in 2012, when her face was used in sarcastic memes. A photo of the cat was originally posted on Reddit in September of 2012, but many believed that the image was photoshopped. Next came a few videos on YouTube, and thus an Internet star was born. Becoming a celebrity of some kind, the cat was even "interviewed" on Good Morning America.
According to her owner Tabatha Bundesen, the two-year-old cat has feline dwarfism, a condition that gives her that signature grumpy face. While many cannot get enough of the funny memes, having Grumpy Cat star in a movie seems a little overboard.
The Lifetime Christmas movie, Grumpy Cat's Worse Christmas Ever, is exactly what it sounds like. Aubrey Plaza will fittingly provide the voice for the cat. And the movie follows a girl who makes a Christmas wish to find a friend.
Fail.
The girl gets Grumpy Cat to bring her holiday cheer. While the movie looks incredibly corny and a bit over the top, fans of the Internet sensation can see their favorite cat and her one and only expression on Lifetime Sat., November 29 at 8 p.m EST.
At this point, we would be as grumpy as Grumpy Cat if we were made to star in this cheesy holiday film. Can the cat just go back to being a cat now?
