Asus ZenFone 3 Android Nougat Update Put On Hold

Those who have been eagerly waiting for the Android 7.0 Nougat update to hit their ZenFone 3 will be disappointed to learn that Asus has put a hold on the roll out.

For the unfamiliar, Asus Philippines began pushing out the Android 7.0 Nougat update for the ZenFone 3 last week, which led people to believe that the software update would be pushed out all over the world.

However, it seems that the excitement was short-lived as Asus has revealed that the Android 7.0 Nougat update for the smartphone has been halted.

The Nougat update is on hold as some bugs need to be fixed. The company does not want to jeopardize their reputation and disappoint users with inferior quality and, therefore, the team is working on updating the system.

ZenFone U.S. Connect

The ZenFone line of smartphones such as the ZenFone 3 Laser and ZenFone 3 Deluxe became available in the United States via retailers such as Amazon in September 2016. In October, 2016, Asus started selling ZenFone 3 Deluxe, ZenPad 3s 10, and also ZenWatch 3 through its own store.

In November 2016, Tech Times reported that the ZenFone 3, was skipping the U.S. release and the ZenFone 3 Deluxe will no longer be launching in Canada.

Asus smartphones such as the ZenFone 3 Deluxe, ZenFone Max, ZenFone 3 Ultra from 2015 series are also slated to get the Android update.

Recommendation For Users

Through its official Facebook page, Asus recommends that ZenFone 3 users activate the auto update option. The auto update option could be turned on via Settings menu. Asus stated that the update will "pop up" as soon as it is available in the market and requests users to patiently wait for its arrival.

While the company may not have been successful in rivalling the popularity of smartphones like LG, HTC, and Huawei, yet it was able to come up with an Android Nougat update swiftly.

Recently, HTC also put its plans of rolling out the Android 7.0 Nougat update for the HTC 10 on hold. However, the company will roll out the update in the next three weeks, according to reports.

Asus has not revealed when it would resume the roll out of the Android 7.0 Nougat for the ZenFone 3 and users will have to play the waiting game till the over-the-air (OTA) update hits their mobile phone.

Even though Asus appears to be falling behind in the competition, the upcoming Android 7.0 Nougat version is expected to propel its device sales.
