Resident Evil 7 has been a permanent fixture in many people's list of the most anticipated games for 2017. That anticipation will finally be sated when the title drops in our midst come Jan. 24.
What is also quite interesting is that the launch will also include a Season Pass, which includes contents that indicate a particularly eventful year for gamer who chose to pay for it.
Resident Evil 7 Season Pass Details
The Season Pass itself was already unwrapped via Steam. Although there is no complete information yet, we now have the gist of what are in store for those holding the golden ticket so to speak.
Based on what has been outlined so far, it appears that there will be about seven downloadable contents that will be distributed throughout 2017. These are divided in two volumes, each featuring two unique scenarios and a bonus mode. The footages include Ethan Must Die and Jack's 55th Birthday.
There is no word yet how the banned footages will be integrated into the game's narrative. According to IGN, however, they could be part of the VHS motifs that have been seen in the run-up to the main game.
Whatever the case is the footage's titles provide some insights about the trajectory of the storyline. By the end of the year, for example, gamers should probably expect Ethan's death or a death-defying twist at least to the story.
While not announced yet, the Season Pass will also let users access items, possibly including the previously rumored comeback of the healing item Green Herbs.
Game Reviews
At this point, Resident Evil 7 has earned plaudits from those who were able test it before launch.
"I'm delighted at how good Resident Evil 7 is. There's so much more I wish I could tell you, but to do so would spoil the experience," Trusted Reviews' Brett Phipps said after previewing the game. "Capcom has done a superb job of bringing the series back to its roots in an incredible way. The most apt description I can think of is: 'The original Resident Evil in first-person.' And if that doesn't get you excited, you're probably a zombie."
The DLCs and additional contents also underscore the apparent focus on the narrative in the Resident Evil 7. The Steam announcement even made it a point to stress that contents will be released in order. The Pre-Purchase Resident Evil 7 Deluxe Edition costs $60. This bundle already includes the Season Pass, which for its part is worth $30 when purchased separately.
Gamers should be pleased that no platform is going to be left behind. Resident Evil 7 will simultaneously be available for PS4, Xbox One, and PC.
