Back in 2014, Verizon released a device in its Jetpack range called Ellipsis. Its latest iteration has just been announced and it promises a number of improvements, including the ability to connect up to 15 devices all at once.
Latest Jetpack Mobile Hotspot
Verizon's new mobile Wi-Fi hotspot technology is called Jetpack MiFi 7730L and it is being targeted at groups of heavy data users such as families and even small teams traveling together for work.
Aside from the connectivity capability, Verizon claims that the MiFi 7730L can offer faster connection through its Wi-Fi 802.11 a/b/g/n/ac technology. You can also take it when roaming in other countries since it has LTE Advanced support.
Touchscreen Interface
If you are one of those who have been using your smartphone as a Wi-Fi hotspot and is, therefore, comfortable with a touch interface, the MiFi 7730L has you covered.
It is outfitted with a 2.4-inch touch screen display. Aside from the ease in managing internet connection, the interface will also display additional data such as the amount remaining in your internet plan, battery charge, and the number of connected devices, among others.
Other Mifi Jetpack Features
The features do not end there. The device also offers several functionalities that users could be surprised to find in a stand-alone mobile hotspot device. It can provide wireless storage, for example. The MiFi 7730L is outfitted with a USB Type-C port that can attach a storage device, which then enables the data therein to be shared by the users connected in the network.
Security is also not an issue.
"Manage passwords and settings directly from the device using the built-in interface," Verizon explained. "Whether your primary use is personal or business, you'll appreciate the security and advanced features of the Jetpack MiFi7730L mobile hotspot."
Finally, the mobile hotspot can also serve as a power bank. It packs a 4,400 mAh battery, more than enough juice to share with your other devices. On its own, you can be assured that it will last for a very long time. It also supports QuickCharge technology, which means you'll get full battery in about three hours of charging.
If you are in the market for a mobile hotspot and if you feel that the MiFi 7730L Jetpack seems an excellent candidate, the device already hit store shelves on Jan 12. You may be sure that is also now available at Verizon's online store.
The MiFi 7730L retails for $200 but you can get it for $50 under a two-year contract.
If you would like an alternative, you might want to take a look at AT&T's Unite Explore, which offers roughly the same functionalities.
