Samsung and LG both launched their next-generation 2016 flagship smartphones back in February. While Samsung has already shipped the Galaxy S7 and S7 Edge, LG is currently ramping up for the release of its LG G5, which will be released on April 1 in the U.S.
T-Mobile recently announced its LG G5 launch with pricing and release date details. AT&T and Sprint quickly followed by announcing their LG G5 price, preorder and release dates. Verizon customers will be happy to know that their carrier has now announced its LG G5 launch plans as well.
Verizon has announced its LG G5 release plans and has already started taking preorders for the handset through its online store, and the smartphone will be delivered to customers on April 1. Customers who choose Verizon's monthly installment plan will have access to some extras for a limited time, an LG 360 Cam, extra battery and charging cradle.
The LG G5 features a modular metal design that allows users to easily swap out its battery, add an enhanced digital camera and connect a Hi-Fi audio player.
The handset packs in a 5.3-inch 2560 by 1440 quad-HD display with a pixel density of 554 pixels per inch (ppi) and that runs Android 6.0.1 Marshmallow out of the box. The handset is powered by a Qualcomm Snapdragon 820 processor, Adreno 530 GPU (graphics processing unit) and 4 GB of RAM. It includes 32 GB of internal storage and microSD expansion slot that will allow users to further increase its space with an up to 200 GB microSD card.
The LG G5's camera capabilities consist of a 16 and 8 megapixel rear camera with laser autofocus, OIS (optical image stabilization) and 8 megapixel front-facing cam for video chatting and selfies. The G5 includes a removable 2,800 mAh battery that will provide up to 27 hours usage time, according to Verizon.
Verizon has priced the LG G5 at $0 down and 24 monthly payments of $26, or you can buy the smartphone outright for $624. The carrier is offering the LG G5 in choices of Silver or Gray.
