The year 2016 started off as a good year for Samsung, following the successful launch of 2015's Galaxy Note 5, S6 edge Plus, S6, and S6 edge. The company kicked off 2016 with the release of the Galaxy S7 and S7 Edge and tech critics and smartphone fans were equally impressed with its new flagship handsets.
The launch of the Galaxy Note 7 appeared to signal Samsung was on track to have another huge hit on its hands but weeks after its release, reports of exploding batteries ended up forcing the company to issue a complete recall. To make up for the disaster and keep its loyal fans, the company announced it would offer Note 7 owners discounts on its next-generation flagship Galaxy S8 series.
Third-Party Case Maker Shows Off Galaxy S8 Design And Features
Now that the impending launch of the Galaxy S8 and S8 edge/Plus is upon us, smartphone fans are anticipating what Samsung has in store to wow the world. We now have a better idea of what the smartphones may look like thanks to a third-party case maker.
BGR is reporting that third-party smartphone case maker Ghostek has published renders of the Galaxy S8 inside one of its Atomic 3 waterproof cases. As you can see in the image above, the design of the handset backs up multiple reports of what we can expect to see Samsung offer in the Galaxy S8 series.
Bezel-Less Curved Edge Display With Embedded Fingerprint Scanner
The smartphone pictured shows the Galaxy S8 will drop hardware navigation keys and home button for an "all screen-front", bezel-less curved edge display. There is also no visible fingerprint scanner at the front or back of the smartphone, which backs up claims that the company will use a fingerprint scanner that is embedded directly into its display.
The rear of the Galaxy S8 shows the smartphone with a single rear camera and not a reported dual rear camera setup like Apple's iPhone 7 Plus. The image shows the power button and volume keys are located on the left side of the smartphone and the company will offer the device in a silver/gray color option upon release.
Third-Party Case Makers Have Habit Of Unveiling Smartphones In Advance
Third-party case makers are notorious for giving the world a first look at an unannounced smartphone ahead of its official launch. LG experienced the same type of leak when an accessory maker showed last year's LG G5 inside one of its cases before LG announced the device, and Samsung saw its Galaxy S6 pictured in a third-party case weeks before it officially unveiled the handset.
This surely won't be the last time we see the Galaxy S8 before its expected launch and we'll be sure to bring you any new details regarding the smartphone.
