A recent report suggested that Samsung may unveil the Galaxy S8 and S8 edge/Plus a month or two ahead of its release date. A new report claims the company has confirmed the pair will be released in "mid-April, possibly in the third week."
With the speculation about when Samsung is planning to launch its next-generation flagship smartphones, the Galaxy S8 and Galaxy S8 edge/Plus has been making headlines over the last couple of months and appears to be intensifying.
Conflicting Reports Of When Samsung Will Launch Galaxy S8 Series
It has been reported that Samsung has been planning to hold an event in March or early April to officially unveil the Galaxy S8 and S8 edge/Plus to the world at an event in New York City. We just reported that a source claims Samsung may surprise everyone and show off the smartphones a month or two ahead of its release, which means the company could continue to follow tradition and debut the smartphones at Mobile World Congress 2017, kicking off on Feb. 27. Samsung has used this trade show to launch both the Galaxy S6 and Galaxy S7 series.
The Investor, the same publication that just revealed that Samsung will showcase the Galaxy S8 and S8 edge/Plus earlier than expected, is back with new details about when Samsung is planning to release the new smartphones to consumers.
"Samsung Electronics has confirmed that the release schedule has been set in mid-April, possibly in the third week," an industry source told The Investor on the condition of anonymity.
If the report is true, this would place the Samsung Galaxy S8 and S8 edge/Plus release date sometime between Monday, April 17 and Sunday, April 23.
Samsung May Release Galaxy S8 And S8 Edge/Plus On Friday, April 21
An official release date of April 18 has been floated, but a spokesperson from Samsung told the publication it could not confirm the details of the Galaxy S8 launch. If we look back at the dates of when the Galaxy S6, S6 edge, Galaxy S7, and S7 edge were released, it might provide a better idea of the actual date and not just the week.
Samsung released the Galaxy S6 and Galaxy S6 edge on Friday, April 10, 2015. The following year, the company chose to release the Galaxy S7 and S7 edge on Friday, March 11, 2016. If Samsung uses another Friday to release its latest flagship smartphones, the Galaxy S8 and S8 edge/Plus, it's very possible that the handsets could get an official release on April 21, 2017.
If Samsung does indeed release the Galaxy S8 and S8 edge/Plus during the third week of April, do you think it will stick to a Friday release? Please let us and our readers know in the comments below.
