It's not uncommon for local news personalities to show up in costume for Halloween — especially meteorologists. But Jude Redfield of Louisville, Kentucky's WDRB just trumped them all.
It's not just that he came up with a good costume; he came up with a really smart use for the green screen he uses to give his weather reports. Redfield donned a full-body unitard that was the same shade of green as his weather screen, leaving only his head uncovered. Then he attached a life-sized skeleton to the front of the suit. The result was that his real body disappeared, making it look like his head was sitting atop a skeleton.
Remarkably, Redfield manages to get through the entire four-minute weather report totally straight-faced. He only addresses his costume when another on-air personality joins him at the very end. A picture he posted to Twitter shows how the trick was achieved.
Let the kids watch @WDRBNews this morning. Bones Redfield will be showing up soon! They will love it! pic.twitter.com/bIkONoYx9n — Jude Redfield (@JudeRedfield) October 31, 2014
You don't get that from Al Roker.
This wasn't even Redfield's first time taking advantage of working with a green screen. When his beloved Cincinnati Reds lost the MLB playoffs a year ago, he did his weather report without a head.
