Tech buffs all around the world have eagerly been waiting for Samsung's Galaxy Tab S3, the successor of the Galaxy Tab S2, to debut for a while now.
The impending tablet from Samsung was expected to be launched in 2016. However, its unveiling at the IFA 2016 never took place. Reports have suggested that the problems Samsung encountered due to its Galaxy Note 7 fiasco may have forced the company to delay the Galaxy Tab S3's arrival.
It is widely believed that the Galaxy Note 7's global recall was one the reasons behind the company delaying the launch of the Android-powered tablet and pushing it to early 2017 instead.
However, fans can breathe a sigh of relief as the Galaxy Tab S3's arrival is around the corner. The Samsung tablet has just received Bluetooth certification which gives a hint that it could release soon.
The Bluetooth Special Interest Group website lists a Samsung Electronics device with the certification ID WFA6921 bearing the model number SM-T825, which is believed to be the Galaxy Tab S3.
The LTE variant of the Galaxy Tab S3 sporting the same model number SM-T825 also received its Wi-Fi certification from the WiFi Alliance on Jan. 6.
To top it off, the Samsung Galaxy Tab S3 has already received the green signal from the Federal Communications Commission, as any device which will be sold in the United States is required to obtain an FCC certification.
Samsung Galaxy Tab S3 Rumored Specs
At this point, information regarding the specifications of the tablet is scarce. However, rumors and leaks hint that, like the Galaxy Tab S2, the Galaxy S3 could also come in two variants — the 8-inch screen and 9.7-inch options.
Under the hood, Samsung could house either its own Exynos 8890 or Qualcomm's Snapdragon 820 processor.
The upcoming tablet may also house 3 GB of RAM similar to its predecessor. Rumors also hint at the possibility of the Galaxy Tab S3 being made available in a 32 GB storage option, with an option to expand the onboard storage further via a microSD card (up to 128 GB). Consumers, however, would be hoping that Samsung makes available 64 GB and 128 GB storage models as well.
The Samsung tablet is expected to sport an 8-megapixel primary camera and a 2-megapixel secondary snapper.
The 8-inch variant of the tablet is expected to house a 4,000mAh battery, whereas the 9.7-inch model could be powered by a bigger 5,870mAh battery.
While previous rumors hinted that the tablet will come with Android Marshmallow out of the box, consumers would be hoping that Samsung makes up for the delay by pre-loading the Galaxy Tab S3 with Android 7.0 Nougat.
A tweet from noted leakster Evan Blass divulged that the Galaxy Tab S3 could come in three colors of white, gold, and black, and could resemble its predecessor Galaxy Tab S2.
Reveal Date
Samsung is widely expected to take the wraps off the Galaxy Tab S3 tablet at the Mobile World Congress 2017, which is going to take place in Barcelona next month.
