OnePlus may have released an upgraded version of its OnePlus 3 smartphone, the OnePlus 3T in November 2016, but the company has not forgotten about the older model.
The China-based OEM is now pushing out the Android 7.0 Nougat-based Oxygen OS 4.0.1 for both the OnePlus 3 and the OnePlus 3T.
Earlier in January, it was reported that both the OnePlus 3 and the OnePlus 3T benefited from OxygenOS 4.0, which is OnePlus' customized Android skin with Nougat.
On Saturday, Jan. 7, a staff member from the company revealed in the official OnePlus forum that the over-the-air Oxygen OS 4.0.1 update for the OnePlus 3 and the OnePlus 3T was available and was being pushed out.
"Hi all, we are starting the incremental rollout of OxygenOS 4.0.1 for the OnePlus 3," shared Tony L, a OnePlus staff member.
The OxygenOS 4.0.1 update would be rolled out in phases, but the OnePlus representative did not divulge the reason why. He merely let on that a small percentage of the smartphone's owners would be getting the update alert over the weekend, with the broader rollout slated to occur in the coming days.
The Oxygen OS 4.0.1 software update from OnePlus brings several new features users' way, including bug fixes.
New Features
According to the changelog from OnePlus, the OxygenOS 4.0.1 update brings a new Settings menu design, a new Notifications design, custom DPI support, Multi-Window View, and Notification Direct Reply. The status bar also benefits from an upgrade and now has more icon options.
Thanks to the update, users of the OnePlus 3 and OnePlus 3T will be able to take advantage of enhanced system stability, an updated APN Settings for certain carriers, and improved Shelf customization.
Bug Fixes
The update also addresses some niggling software issues and bugs plaguing the handsets. The OTA update fixes the bug, which caused Proximity Sensor errors during a phone call.
Users will no longer encounter issues of apps not downloading properly from the Play Store, as this problem too has been fixed by the update.
How To Resolve Play Store Download And APN-Related Issues: Workarounds
Users who have complained that they encounter app downloading issues on the Play Store when using Data Roaming need not worry much, as OnePlus revealed that this a known Google problem. Users should follow the troubleshooting steps from Google to resolve the issue. Alternately, switching to the Battery Saving Mode on the handset, coupled with resetting the app preferences for the Play Store, should help.
OnePlus also offers a workaround for users encountering mobile data problems because of APN. To resolve this problem one can navigate to the settings page for APN and manually test out the available options. If this does not help, then simply send feedback to the developer.
Those facing mobile data issues and fluctuating Wi-Fi connection problems on their OnePlus 3 need to touch base with OnePlus through Tony L, and send him a message for quicker and reliable feedback.
