If you are an Apple Watch owner, you might have already received a message from the smartwatch that tries to get you to lose the extra weight you might have gained over the holidays.
Apple has pushed out an announcement for the Ring in the New Year Challenge to all Apple Watch users, an activity that is similar to the Thanksgiving Day 5K challenge that Apple previously launched.
Apple Watch New Year Challenge Details
The activity, which will begin on Jan. 2, 2017, will challenge Apple Watch wearers to complete the three activity goals of moving, exercising, and standing every day for the four whole weeks of January. Users can choose from any activity that they want to do as long as they are able to achieve their goals.
Specifically, the goals will require for users to move for about one minute within every hour over a period of 12 hours, work out at least 30 minutes daily, and reach the user's personal target for calories to burn.
Apple Watch owners who participate in the challenge will be able to share their achievements through social media to allow them to join the expected avalanche of people who are trying to shed pounds after all the celebration over the holiday season.
Reward For Completing The Apple Watch Fitness Challenge
Users who are able to achieve the challenge offered by their Apple Watch for even just one week in January will be able to receive a special achievement badge for their efforts along with free stickers for iMessage that will signify that you were able to beat Apple's Ring in the New Year Challenge.
Apple has also added a dedicated section in the iPhone's Activity app that collects the Apple Watch user's seasonal medals. Accessing the section shows a placeholder for the New Year challenge, which might help in motivating users to achieve their goals for January.
Most of all, though, with the challenge, Apple is applying a more proactive approach in providing utility for customers into shape, and for those who are able to complete the set goals, they will already be on their way to improving their health through exercise.
How To Accept Or Decline The Apple Watch Challenge
While the Ring in the New Year Challenge is ultimately a good one for everybody to participate in, Apple Watch owners can choose to decline the challenge and prevent any notifications regarding the activity to arrive on their smartwatch.
The notification for the challenge will appear on the Apple Watch only once, and once the wearer declines the challenge, there will be no way to bring it back. Those who are interested in participating, therefore, need to be careful not to dismiss the notification.
