A new report claims that Apple may launch three new iPhones next September. The source believes the company will add a new 5-inch model that will sit alongside the standard 4.7-inch and 5.5-inch Plus models.
It's never too early to begin speculating on what Apple has planned for its next generation iPhones. There have been many reports on what the company has up its sleeve for 2017, with most claiming the company is planning to release a 4.7-inch iPhone 7s, a 5.5-inch iPhone 7s Plus and a high-end iPhone 8 that will feature a brand-new design with a curved OLED display.
Three New iPhones In 2017
Model numbers for three new iPhones leaked a few days ago – D20, D21 and D22 – and it was widely believed those devices were the iPhone 7s, iPhone 7s Plus and iPhone 8. Now, a new report claims that Apple is actually planning to launch three new iPhones that will make up the iPhone 7s series.
5-Inch iPhone 7s With Dual Rear Cameras?
Mac Otakara, which has a decent track record of revealing unannounced Apple news, is reporting that Apple is working on a 5-inch iPhone 7s that will feature an iSight duo camera which will be arranged vertically instead of horizontally like the dual camera setup currently found on the iPhone 7 Plus.
The site claims that the 5-inch iPhone 7s would act as the medium size iPhone in the 7s series, sitting between the 4.7-inch iPhone 7s, which would likely retain a single rear camera like that of its predecessor and the 5.5-inch iPhone 7s Plus would presumably use a similar dual camera system like that of its predecessor.
The report notes that the 4.7-inch iPhone 7s, 5-inch iPhone 7s and 5.5-inch iPhone 7s Plus will likely feature the same internal specs, with display sizes and camera systems differentiating the models as in previous years. There is no mention of the handset rumored to be the iPhone 8 with curved OLED display but the site notes that the final specifications will be finalized in the second quarter of Apple's 2017 fiscal year.
If this report is to be believed, it certainly contradicts multiple reports from other reliable sources who claim that Apple will introduce a high-end iPhone 8 that will feature a completely redesigned glass body and curved OLED display. That device is expected to be introduced and marketed as the 10th anniversary iPhone.
As always, it's best to take reports of upcoming iPhone details with a grain of salt. We'll keep you posted on any additional details as they become available.
