Christmas is just right around the corner, and BioWare is prepared to give away several of its games for free. The company is making moves to have five of its titles be available for free over the course of the holidays.
We're not certain of which games BioWare will give away to fans, but we do know they will be set free on EA Origins. It makes us wonder if the same will happen on the Xbox One and PlayStation 4 as well.
BioWare made the announcement via its Twitter page that it plans on giving away freebies for five days, beginning on Dec. 20. It will run until the 25th, so we can only hope the Dragon Age: Inquisition is the Christmas present BioWare has planned for all PC gamers.
According to a report from WCCFTECH, Mass Effect 2 might be the first game to be released for free. It would make perfect sense if all the Mass Effect games were released for free this year, as such a move would bring players up to speed before they dig into the next installment, Mass Effect Andromeda.
It should be noted that Mass Effect 2 was briefly available for free recently, so chances are it might be the first free game.
The BioWare Effect
BioWare is one of the most consistent studios under Electronic Arts. The developer is mainly known for the Mass Effect and Dragon Age games, both of which are some of the best titles to ever hit consoles and PCs. Mass Effect is one of the best games that manages to mix third-person shooting with RPG elements.
Mass Effect is the time of game that forces the player to choose before they act. Any decision will have an effect on the story and the ending overall. For example, one particular decision could lead to one or more team members dying.
As for Dragon Age, it's an RPG with similar decision-making consequences. It began with one of the best stories ever told in a video game and some of the best characters as well. However, the second installment did away with many of the complexities in order to be simpler for newcomers. Didn't work out well for EA and BioWare, and as such, the third installment, Dragon Age Inquisition, did what needed to be done.
Overall, great studio with a splendid track record. BioWare is like EA's own Naughty Dog, you know, the developer behind the Uncharted games and The Last of Us.
