Microsoft is not content with offering an array of hardware such as PCs, tablets and consoles for its holiday deals. The company seems to be matching those giveaways with digital deals at the Xbox Store in what the company surprisingly calls as its biggest Xbox sale ever.
The claim may just prove true since more than 350 discounted items and deals are on offer from Dec. 22 to Jan. 9. This is a significant uptick from the 200-plus deals last year and could possibly trounce its Black Friday sale.
"We'll be counting down to the New Year and continuing great deals through Jan. 9. The sale offers 19 days of deals on hundreds of games, movies & TV shows, music and apps, including daily and weekly offers," Xbox Wire's Will Tuttle said.
Xbox Game Deals
The Xbox deals will include titles for both Xbox One and Xbox 360 and prices could plummet by as much as 60 percent. In addition, you should be pleased to know that the discounted games will include some of the most popular titles this year. For instance, you can count Final Fantasy XV, Battlefield 1 and Watch Dogs 2 in the mix.
$1 Xbox Gold Membership
As you well know, Xbox Live Gold members enjoy discounts on games. Particularly, for the duration of the holiday deals, these lucky gamers are entitled to as much as 10 percent off the entire deals on offer.
You will not have any reason to fret if you are not a subscribed member. Xbox has reduced the membership to $1 but only for this period. Now, if you are not yet sold on the Gold member perks, Xbox helpfully reminds you that membership will allow gamers to play online with friends whether they're on Xbox One or Xbox 360.
It will also enable members to unlock free games with Gold every month, which could save you up to $700 a year. Finally, members will be able to redeem deals with Gold discounts of up to 67 percent on games.
Other Digital Downloads
Aside from games, Xbox is also including other digital contents in the event such as movies, TV and music. TV favorites, for example, will have a 50 percent price-cut while entire seasons could fetch as much as 33 percent discount. Bundled movies such as the entire "Hobbit" franchise could also be purchased for up to 33 percent off.
The music deal involves the Groove Music Pass. If you decide to opt for the free 30-day trial, Xbox says that it will give you three more months of free access to millions of songs.
Microsoft and Xbox have not provided the specific breakdown of deals that will be offered at any given day or time. So those in the market with very specific titles in mind should be on the lookout for more information, which should be coming in the next few days.
