To celebrate the 12th anniversary of the long-running but still highly popular World of Warcraft, Blizzard has launched an event running until Nov. 30 that will allow players to acquire special in-game items.
The things that players can receive for World of Warcraft's 12th anniversary include Timewarped Badges, a Celebration Package item and their very own Corgi Pup.
World Of Warcraft 12th Anniversary Event Details
To participate in the 12th anniversary of World of Warcraft, players will simply have to log in to their accounts. By doing so, players will already earn the 12th Anniversary achievement.
Afterward, players should then check their email inbox for the Anniversary Gift Package. The contents of the package include 200 Timewarped Badges, along with a Celebration Package item that increases by 12 percent the experience and reputation gained from kills over a time of one hour.
Also included in the package is a "Letter from the Timewalkers." Reading the letter will then automatically launch a new quest that leads to either Stormwind or Orgrimmar, depending on whether the player is from the Alliance or the Horde.
As part of the event, players can also acquire additional Timewarped Badges from Historian Llore and Historian Ju'pe by completing daily quests in the form of answering trivia regarding World of Warcraft.
Lastly, and perhaps most important, players will be able to purchase items related to the game's 12th anniversary from both questgivers, with the items including the adorable Corgi Pup.
The Future Of World Of Warcraft
"Thank you to all of the heroes of the Horde and the Alliance for your unfaltering dedication to Azeroth," Blizzard wrote to end the announcement of the game's 12th Anniversary event. Blizzard added that it appreciates the continued support that players give to World of Warcraft, and that it is looking forward to sharing more adventures with players over the coming years.
It certainly seems like World of Warcraft will continue on for several more years, with players excited for the game's near-term future. The latest expansion, Legion, has been very well received after it was launched in the summer of this year. While it may not have pushed the active player figures of the game to more than 10 million, Legion has addressed several issues that plagued previous expansions to make World of Warcraft interesting again for current players.
Legion is expected to receive a significant update soon named The Tomb of Sargeras, which is exciting for players as it will add a new Raid with nine bosses and will end with the sealing of the portal being used by the Burning Legion to enter Azeroth.
