Before you know it, Thanksgiving has come and you are entangled in the thick of it. Sony wants you to plan ahead by releasing initial details of its PlayStation Store Black Friday deals and, to kick things off, it just dropped an unconventional promotional video.
Strange PlayStation Black Friday Ad
The new 34-second video ad, which was produced by PlayStation Europe, presented a parade of people in front of what seems to be a giant fan. Their faces — contorted by the blasts of air — were set in slow motion, which created very bizarre visual effects.
Sony must have been aiming to capture a specific set of emotional hysteria since the tag line warned the viewers to "Play it cool this Black Friday."
The faces dominated the length of the video before it finally shifted to the teaser that Sony will be doling out as much as 60 percent price cuts on the PlayStation network.
There is no word in the video that referred to specific titles or bundles included in the Black Friday sale. It merely stated that those interested could sign-up at the PlayStation website to get alerts for details as they come.
More PS4 Black Friday Details
Elsewhere, Sony has also been leaving crumbs on its Black Friday deals. PlayStation's European Twitter account, for example, revealed that the event will start early, at least for the European region.
In the United States, the only available Black Friday deal involves the already announced weekend offering. It includes the Uncharted 4 PlayStation 4 Bundle, priced at $250. This deal will come with the new 500 GB PlayStation Slim, a DualShock 4, and Naughty Dog's hit game Uncharted 4: A Thief's End. The deal will be available on Black Friday weekend only.
Biggest Console Deals Of The Year
For a bit of context about the PlayStation Black Friday deal, one can turn to last year's offerings, which involved more than 100 discounted PlayStation 4, PlayStation 3 and Vita titles. The slashed prices still got a 10 percent discount upon checkout. The quality and quantity of the discounted consoles and products have propelled the event as the most successful in Sony's history. The company seems bent on replicating or even besting that record.
"Get ready for the biggest deals of the year on PlayStation console bundles, software and more," Sony said in its dedicated Black Friday 2016 page.
The Black Friday sale for rival Xbox One is already underway.
