Every year, Nov. 11 is observed as Veterans Day — a public holiday which honors military veterans in the United States.
Since it is a holiday, several offices and businesses will either remain closed on the day or have changed timings.
Here is a list of the anticipated closing timings for retailers such as Walmart, Target, Best Buy, as well as Banks and Post Offices.
Closed
Federal offices will remain closed on Veterans Day.
The U.S. District Court will also remain shut.
State offices and Post offices will both remain closed as well. Mail service will remain suspended for Veterans Day.
Most schools, city and town offices will also remain shut on Veterans Day.
Municipal offices are also expected to stay shut.
Libraries are also expected to remain closed, but one should check with their local establishment.
Sanitation Department: Sanitation services and garbage collection is suspended
Open
The U.S. stock market will remain open.
Walmart will have its regular operational hours and will be open.
National Parks are also expected to remain open. However, one should check with the parks individually as the may have altered their timings.
Private businesses should also stay open on Veterans Day. They could operate on the regular schedule, or may have altered the work hours.
Stores such as Best Buy, Sears, JC Penney, Neiman Marcus, Nordstrom, Macys, Target, Kohl's etc. will remain open with regular working hours. In fact, most of them are offering special sales in honor of Veterans Day.
Restaurants are also expected to stay open and will operate in regular working hours.
Public transportation services will also be open, but their operation timings may be altered or reduced for the holiday. It is advisable to check your local bus, subway and rail schedules.
Several convenience stores will also remain open on Veterans Day such as Circle K, SuperAmerica, Raceway, QuikTrip, 7-Eleven, Speedway, Kum & Go, Kwik Trip and Casey's. Many locations will be open for 24 hours.
Pharmacies and drug stores such as Walgreens, CVS, Rite Aid and more will remain open. However, the actual pharmacy could have reduced operational hours or may be closed.
Movie theaters, bars and liquor stores will remain open. Several grocery stores will also remain open.
