Niantic's wildly successful mobile game Pokémon GO saw a resurgence in popularity over the past few weeks thanks to the title's Halloween update. Since then fans have discovered clues within the game's code that could hint towards what's coming next, just as many fans have been doing ever since the game first released.
Numerous secrets have been found in recent months, ranging from fun references to the anime series to clues about how discovering the game's still unseen legendary pocket monsters might work. Now, however, comes word that Niantic CEO John Hanke knows of a secret within the game that, according to him, has yet to be discovered by players.
One Secret Is 'Out There Right Now'
Speaking with Gamesradar sometime last week, Hanke had this to say about secrets within the game:
"There will always be secrets in the game that no one has found because we're always adding new secrets to the game," Hanke said. "There's one out there right now and we'll see how that plays out over the course of the next few weeks."
When asked if the new secret was added to Pokémon GO during the Halloween update, Hanke simply replied: "I am not giving you any clues."
Ditto's Signature Move
It's important to note that Hanke's quote apparently came from a conversation that happened prior to Nov. 7, the day that it became common knowledge among many in the Pokémon GO community that dataminers had discovered the elusive Ditto's signature move, "Transform", within the game's files.
Ditto was one of the few original pocket monsters yet to be found within the game, so the discovery of the move leaves many to believe Ditto's arrival is now imminent.
Dataminers also discovered numbers that correlated with the Pokedex entries from Pokémon Gold & Silver, implying that Niantic is laying the groundwork for the arrival of generation two Pokémon sometime in the future.
Are these the secrets Hanke was referencing in his interview? Or are there more secrets that have yet to be discovered?
Either way, players of Niantic's hit game can definitely look forward to the latest update coming to Pokémon GO, one that will add daily and weekly quests, each with their own rewards. That should encourage more players to play the game regularly, as should Hanke's tease of still undiscovered secrets.
