HTC is said to be working on a new entry-level phone code-named Desire A17, which could debut along with the HTC Bolt.
Rumors of the HTC Bolt have been doing the rounds for several months and it was expected to be announced in October. Latest rumors suggest that the HTC Bolt will be unveiled on Nov. 11 and it will be available for preorder by the end of November this year.
HTC Desire A17 Release Date
HTC leakster LlabTooFeR tweeted the possibility of HTC launching the Bolt and the Desire A17 at the same event.
Rumors of the Desire A17 are very scarce. However, the Desire 530 - a budget phone introduced during the Mobile World Congress event earlier this year - was code-named Desire A16, which leads to speculations that the Desire A17 will succeed the Desire 530 (A16).
The HTC Desire 530 sports a 5-inch Full HD screen with a display resolution of 720 x 1,280 pixels and 294 ppi. The mobile phone comes running on 1.1 GHz quad-core Qualcomm Snapdragon 210 processor and 1.5 GB of RAM.
The Desire 530 is equipped with an 8-megapixel (f/2.4 lens) primary camera and a 5-megapixel (f/2.8 lens) selfie camera. The phone has 16 GB of internal storage; however, customers can increase the storage capacity by an additional 2 TB with a microSD card.
A 2,000 mAh battery fuels the Desire 530, which offers up to 29 days of standby time and up to 14 hours of talk time on 3G. The HTC offering is great for listening to music on the go.
"The HTC Desire 530 comes with a high-quality amp that boosts volume and bass to impressive levels without distorting the sound. Coupled with the HTC BoomSound Dolby Audio Profile, your music has never sounded better - no matter what earphones you're using," says HTC.
HTC Desire A17 Price
In the United States, HTC is selling the Desire 530 at a price tag of $179. Verizon is offering the Desire 530 at a full retail price of $144. The Desire A17 should have a similar price at launch.
It is worth noting that HTC launched the Desire 530 in February but it was officially made available in the United States in July. HTC could announce the Desire A17 along with the HTC Bolt but customers may have to wait a few months for the phone to hit shelves.
Being the successor of the Desire 530, the Desire A17 should have some upgrades. Unfortunately, HTC has not revealed any information regarding the Desire A17, which means all rumors regarding the smartphone should be taken with a pinch of salt until the Taiwanese phonemaker officially announces the device.
