The unlocked version of the HTC Desire 530 is now available in the United States for $179.
The Taiwanese smartphone maker unveiled the Desire 530 at the 2016 Mobile World Congress (MWC) event in February this year. Although the handset was released in many regions, the U.S. was left out.
In early July, HTC announced that the Desire 530 is coming to the U.S.
"The HTC Desire 530 will be available from prepaid and postpaid U.S. wireless providers T-Mobile and Verizon Wireless, in addition to HTC.com. Each will confirm the colors and model availability," said HTC.
T-Mobile is selling the prepaid variant of the phone for $159.99. Customers can choose the 0 percent finance option from T-Mobile by paying $0 upfront and $6.67 per month in 24 installments. Verizon is yet to launch the HTC Desire 530.
HTC announced that the Desire 530 will be available in three colors in the U.S. — Sprinkle White, Stratus White or Blue Lagoon. However, the unlocked model from HTC's website is available only in Sprinkle White for $179.
The Desire 530 sports a 5-inch full HD screen with a display resolution of 1,280 x 720 pixels at 294 ppi. The mobile phone comes running on a Qualcomm Snapdragon 210 processor clocked at 1.1 GHz and 1.5 GB of RAM.
The affordable HTC device is equipped with an 8-megapixel (f/2.4 lens) primary camera and a 5-megapixel (f/2.8 lens) selfie camera. The Desire 530 has 16 GB of internal storage with the option to expand to up to 2 TB with a microSD card.
The HTC smartphone includes a 2,000 mAh battery that can offer up to 10 hours of HD video playback, up to 84 hours of audio playback, up to 14 hours of talk time on 3G and up to 29 days of standby time. The handset has an extreme power saving mode that improves the battery life.
"Crafted with a micro splash finish applied over the handset, HTC Desire 530 has a unique style all its own. Featuring a soft-touch polycarbonate body. Stand out with the playfully retro, uniquely designed HTC Desire 530," says HTC.
The Desire 530 comes running on the latest Android 6.0 Marshmallow mobile operating system. HTC suggests that the phone does not have unnecessary pre-loaded app or bloat ware, which offers customers clutter-free experience.
The device measures 5.78 x 2.79 x 0.33 inches (146.9 x 70.9 x 8.3 millimeters) and weighs 140 grams, or about 4.94 ounces.
HTC suggests that the unlocked Desire 530 is compatible with AT&T, T-Mobile, Metro PCS, Alaska Communications, Cricket, Walmart Family Mobile, Straight Talk and Net 10.
