Since launching in April, the flagship smartphone HTC 10 has been finding its way into the hands of more customers.
The HTC 10 will, however, face stiff competition from rival products such as the iPhone 6s, which launched in September 2015. The question arises: is the HTC 10 enough to trump the iPhone 6s?
Here is a quick comparison of the HTC 10 and iPhone 6s.
Screen
The HTC 10 sports a 5.2-inch Quad HD screen with a resolution of 2,560 x 1,440 pixels.
Viewing angle, accuracy and brightness are great of the 4.7-inch iPhone 6s, but it lags behind in terms of pure pixel count. The Apple offering has IPS LCD display with 1,334 x 750 pixel resolution.
Processor And RAM
A quad-core Qualcomm Snapdragon 820 processor clocked at 2.2GHz and 4 GB of RAM powers the HTC 10. On the other hand, Apple's own dual-core A9 processor and 2 GB of RAM runs the iPhone 6s.
More RAM is definitely preferable in smartphones, but Apple's overall design and engineering coupled with iOS power management compensates for 2 GB of RAM.
"The A9 chip is our third-generation chip with 64-bit architecture. It sits at the cutting edge of mobile chips, improving overall CPU performance by up to 70 percent compared to the previous generation. And boosting graphics performance by up to a staggering 90 percent compared to the previous generation," says Apple.
Storage
The iPhone 6s is available in 16 GB, 64 GB and 128 GB internal storage models. The smartphone lacks a microSD card slot, which means customers cannot expand the storage capacity.
The HTC 10 is available only with on-board storage. However, customers can increase the storage capacity to up to 2 TB with a microSD card.
Camera
The iPhone 6s is equipped with a 12-megapixel (f/2.2 aperture) rear-facing camera and a 5-megapixel selfie camera.
The camera sensor of the HTC 10 has the same pixel count, but it has a smaller f/1.8 aperture.
The aperture of a camera is larger when the number is smaller. A bigger aperture will result in better quality images even in lowlight conditions.
HTC claims that the HTC 10 has the best smartphone camera in the market.
Battery
The HTC 10 has a 3,000 mAh battery that offers up to 27 hours of talk time and up to 19 days of standby time. The battery of the HTC smartphone supports quick charge, and customers can get 50 percent charge within 30 mins.
Apple did not confirm the battery size of the iPhones, but a promo video of the iPhone 6s accidentally revealed that the handset has a 1,715 mAh battery. According to Apple's official website, the battery on the iPhone 6s can offer up to 14 hours of talk time on 3G, up to 10 hours of Internet usage, up to 50 hours of audio playback and about 10 days of standby time.
Operating System
The HTC 10 comes running on the latest Android 6.0 Marshmallow operating system, which is packed with new features and power management tools.
Apple's latest iOS 9 runs the iPhone 6s.
Fingerprint Scanner
The HTC 10 as well as the iPhone 6s include fingerprint scanner for improved security of the handset.
Color Option
The iPhone 6s is available in four colors: Rose Gold, Space Gray, Silver and Gold. In the U.S., the unlocked version of the HTC 10 is available in only two hues: Glacier Silver and Carbon Gray.
Form Factor
The HTC 10 measures 5.74 x 2.83 x 0.35 inches, or 145.9 x 71.9. x 9.0 millimeters, which is slightly thicker than the iPhone 6s that measures 5.44 x 2.64 x 0.28 inches, or 138.3 x 67.1 x 7.1 millimeters.
The iPhone 6s, which weighs 143 grams, or about 5.04 ounces, is also lighter than the HTC 10, which weighs 161 grams, or about 5.68 ounces.
Price
The starting price tag of the iPhone 6s is $649 (16 GB Wi-Fi only model). However, the unlocked HTC 10 is slightly expensive and costs $699.
Apple's iPhone needs no selling. The latest iPhone 6s is packed with top-end features, but the lack of external storage, smaller RAM, smaller battery and less storage capacity in the base model may divert customers to the latest HTC 10.
