This weekend marks the release of Call of Duty: Infinite Warfare, and that means plenty of players will at long last be upgrading from their last-generation consoles. After all, Infinite Warfare is the first modern entry in the series that won't also be available for the Xbox 360 or PlayStation 3. If fans want to keep up with the series they'll need an Xbox One or a PlayStation 4 in order to do so.
It's with that in mind that Sony and Activision are making an offer many players will find hard to refuse this weekend. As detailed in a new post on the official PlayStation Blog, those who purchase the newly released PlayStation 4 Slim console at participating retailers in the U.S. and Canada on November 4 or 5 will receive Call of Duty: Infinite Warfare for free. This offer applies to the $299 PS4 Slim Uncharted 4: A Thief's End bundle as well, meaning those who take advantage of this deal can get two $60 games for free.
This is hardly the first time Sony and Activision have teamed up. Due to a timed exclusivity deal between the two companies, all Call of Duty DLC arrives early on PS4. Those purchasing the Legacy Edition of Infinite Warfare also got the chance to play the campaign for Modern Warfare Remastered a month ahead of time, as long as they paid off their preorder at certain retailers. PS4 players also got advanced access to the Infinite Warfare multiplayer beta over those fans playing on Xbox One.
The promotion is sure to be a popular one for those already doing their holiday shopping. While it leaves players who were more interested in picking up the Legacy Edition of Infinite Warfare for Modern Warfare Remastered (there currently isn't a way to play Modern Warfare separately) in a tough spot, it's still a great deal for more casual fans looking to make the jump to the current generation of consoles. The consoles will probably go fast, so be sure to arrive at your retailer of choice early.
