The dawn of the dead will soon be upon us— at least that is what zombie truthers believe.
According to the latest television ratings, zombies are more popular than football, among 18 to 49-year-olds. Case in point, season five, episode two of AMC's The Walking Dead earned 15.143 million viewers and a 7.7 rating compared to Sunday Night Football's 7.0 rating.
The new season of The Walking Dead has fans hungry for more gore. This has led real estate experts to ask: if this same craving for flesh and blood came over your city, would you survive?
As it turns out, the chances of your survival during a zombie apocalypse depend on which city you live in.
According to "The Most Appetizing U.S Cities For Zombies" map created by the real estate website Trulia, Honolulu is the worst place to seek refuge from the zombie apocalypse.
It might be shocking that the Hawaiian paradise is more dangerous in this hypothetical scenario than Atlanta is in The Walking Dead, but according to the map, Atlanta doesn't even make the top of the list.
Trulia listed the 25 most zombie-infested U.S. cities to determine where Americans could seek refuge "when the world crumbles and you become a member of the walking dead."
The real estate experts used the following criteria: highest walk score, lowest hardware stores, highest density in hospitals and most congestion to find the top zombie wastelands.
Zombies would wash up on the beaches of Honolulu, Hawaii, making it the worst city for survival. The city's high accessibility score would make it easy for "walkers" to get around.
Residents would also have difficulty finding weapons since Honolulu lacks hardware stores. They also won't be able to leave the remote island because of congested traffic. And the hospitals in the city would provide ample feeding grounds.
Those in the Big Apple would also have a big zombie problem. New York City made number two on the list, followed by Newark, Boston and Washington D.C.
According to the map, the best city for zombie apocalypse survival is El Paso, Texas.
