For the first time, Skyrim Mods will be playable on both the Xbox One and the PlayStation 4. This is something players have been expecting for quite some time, and now it's here.
Mods are designed mainly to improve the experience of a game, even in small parts. Furthermore, mods are much better on PCs due to fewer restrictions, but that doesn't mean the console experience is terrible, just more restricted.
At the moment, there are over 100 mods for the Xbox One version of Fallout 4, so we should be expecting similar support for Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim Remastered when the game is released, isn't that exciting? Probably the best mod right now is the ability to show snow and rain effects on the skin and armor of the character.
Whenever the character walks out in the rain, players should see the wetness on the skin and armor. When in the snow, frost effects should show up on skin and armor. We're quite surprised this was not added to the core game by Bethesda, but at least mod developers have come to the rescue.
How To Add Mods
After realizing what mods are capable of, we're sure you're up to the task of getting mods for the game. Now, the first step is to create a Bethesda.net account, but that's if you haven't already. Once that's all up and running, select the mod option from the game's menu, then log into your Bethesda account.
You should now have access to the download page, so just choose the ones that fit what you're into and get it up and running. Easy right? We agree.
PS4 And Xbox One Mods Are Not The Same
There is a huge difference with how mods are done on both consoles. It's safe to the say the Xbox One version of the game is the best place for mods. This is because Sony is not too open to mods, and as such, the company made it clear only in-game assets can be used to create mods.
Mod developers on the Xbox One can use third-party assets, so expect unique things for the Microsoft version of the game. Furthermore storage limit for mods is different for both consoles. According to Eurogamer, the Xbox One has a 5 GB limit, while the PS4 version has a 1 GB limit.
What About Installing Mods For PC?
Mods can be downloaded directly from Bethesda's mod page. There are over 100 mods for the PC version of the game, so there's a lot to do right out of the gate.
