It seems that the OnePlus 3T is becoming more and more a certainty as days pass. Mere days after we reported that such device seems to have been spotted in the wild, a fresh set of rumors reveal full retail pricing.
Just a quick recap of what we know so far about the device: the most recent rumor involves a Weibo post that was purportedly written and published via a OnePlus 3T handset. The Weibo account is associated with a OnePlus designer.
While the actual reference to the 3T handset only surfaced this week with the Weibo leak, rumors of a OnePlus 3 successor have already been circulating for quite some time now. A number of these refer to the handset as the OnePlus 3S. The slight variations in the information did not diminish the persistent claim that this device is still not the OnePlus 4 and would instead serve as its predecessor.
The rumor mill was also agitated several weeks ago after reports surfaced that China's Compulsory Certification (3C) has already approved a OnePlus device labeled A301. Observers believe this is also the OnePlus 3T.
The latest buzz about the 3T's price is making quite a splash because the source is popular tipster Evan Blass. According to him, the OnePlus 3T is indeed on its way and will retail for $80 more, which means the full retail price is $479.
OnePlus 3T Specs
There is a seeming consensus that the OnePlus 3T will ship with slightly improved internals to better compete with the fresh batch of Android flagships, such as the Google Pixel. The most important detail in this respect involves the expectation that it's going to sport the Snapdragon 821.
Blass has confirmed that Snapdragon bit, along with several more specifications such as the 5.5-inch Full HD display, 16-megapixel camera, 64 GB of storage and a whopping 6 GB RAM.
Blass has not shed light as to the schedule of the OnePlus 3T release. However, there is a fat chance that it will begin rolling out in the last quarter of this year in time for the holiday season. The date should provide enough time for the viable rollout of the OnePlus 4, which has a rumored mid-2017 release.
With the incremental upgrade, OnePlus 3 owners could find it difficult to rationalize a OnePlus 3T purchase. But the case should be different for consumers with older OnePlus models. The Snapdragon 821 could also prove to be a compelling value proposition.
