Apple is now selling the Powerbeats 3 wireless headphones, which were first spotted during the iPhone 7's September launch. Note that the Powerbeats 3 is the third accessory from the company that makes use of the W1 chip.
The other two are the wireless AirPods and the on-ear Beats Solo3.
Powerbeats 3 vs. Powerbeats 2
The OEM touts that the W1 chip will yield its devices extended battery life. The Powerbeats 2, for example, could go on for 6 hours on one charge, but thanks to the improved chip the Powerbeats 3 will play tunes for double that time, up to 12 hours.
Additionally, Apple announced that its latest "Fast Fuel" feature will allow users to charge the headphones for 5 minutes and get an hour's use.
The Powerbeats 3 are taking a leaf out of AirPods' playbook, as they will play nice with the new iPhone. More than that, the wireless Bluethooth protocol enables the headphones to be compatible with a slew of Bluetooth-supporting gadgets. One big advantage of the W1 chip is that it can pick up signal from a much greater distance than its predecessor.
As a reminder, Apple owns Beats, the biggest global wireless headphones company. This might mean that the removal of the 3.5mm heaphone jack from the iPhone 7 was not entirely coincidental.
Despite having received a cohort of criticism for the bold move, Apple did offer its customers a somewhat simplified life, taking away the hassle of dealing with tangled wires in its headphones.
Powerbeats 3 Price
Those who want to purchase the Powerbeats can do so for $199.95 from the manufacturer's site. Shipping should take a week or two, but audiophiles will likely say the wait is worth it.
Headphone users can make use of the Powerbeats in more ways than one, but the company advertises the accessories to those entangled in active lifestyles. Thanks to the adjustable earhooks, a customizable feel will keep the buds from falling off. It should be mentioned that the Powerbeats 3 are water-resistant, making them ideal for those autumn runs or sweaty indoor workouts.
"An improved ergonomic design makes way for clear, dynamic sound powered by dual-driver acoustics," Apple touts.
To make most of the Powerbeats 3, users should have an iCloud account and macOS Sierra, iOS 10 or watchOS 3.
On topic of Apple's wireless headphones, Apple released updated variants of Beats Solo3, Beats EP and Beats X late last month. However, its noise-canceling headphones, Studio Wireless, were delayed and there is no official information when a revamped version will be available.
