On Sunday, Beats by Dre airs a new commercial which carries the title 'Re-Established 2014.' James is shown sporting a tattoo that says 'Akron Est. 1984' on his chest, the inspiration behind the commercial.
The new Beats by Dre commercial was aired during an NFL game on Sunday. Interestingly, it didn't have any player in the NFL. The latter has banned players from wearing Beats while a game is played and even during TV interviews.
Instead of featuring an NFL player, the PowerBeats commercial features NBA superstar LeBron James. The ad, which lasted not shorter than two minutes, focuses mostly on James going back to his hometown and returning to the Cleveland Cavaliers.
James is shown working out in a gym, dubbed as LeBron James Arena. The gym is at St. Vincent-St. Mary, James' former high school. The ad also showed flashbacks to the Cleveland Cavalier star's Spring Hill apartment residence, his first 'stable' home. Other notable landmarks were also flashed in the ad.
As James is about to start with his work out, he snuggles the PowerBeats2 earphones on his ears. It all appeared as if James is listening to some music. The song that was featured is called 'Take Me to Church' by Hozier. At the latter part of the ad, a voice-over is heard saying 'Don't ever forget where you came from.'
The voice-over is done by James' mother, Gloria. Her appearance in the ad is understandable as she has played an inspiring role which helped James rise to superstardom. On his return to Cleveland, James carried with him the desire of making Cleveland win the championship.
Apart from the commercial, the company has also produced several snippets that are shorter, providing some extra information about the main ad. The voiceovers came from Victoria James and LeBron.
Powerbeats2 Wireless is an in-ear wireless headphone that offers strong sound along with a comfortable and secure fit. Since it is sweat-resistant, it makes an ideal choice to wear during workout. It sells at $199. The price may be a little steep but the headphone is certainly a leader in the pack. Other features include good battery life, anti-slip off, right neck-cord length which never gets tangled, simple and big remote control, impressive USB flap, and of course, a decent sound.
"This offseason, with Powerbeats2 Wireless, LeBron has re-established his body through intense training. He's also re-established his legacy and connections to the community in Akron," says the description of Beats for the commercial.
