You can get 'Guardians of the Galaxy' sound track on Nov. 17... on cassette tape

The 'Guardians of the Galaxy' soundtrack has already been released earlier on compact disc, vinyl LP and digital download. The latest version is on cassette tape which will hit the store shelves on Nov. 17.

The soundtrack is on a limited edition and will be released by Marvel Music/Hollywood Records, a division of Disney Music Group. Though it is on cassette, fans don't have to worry as each purchased cassette tape will come with a digital download format. It will be Disney's first released music cassette since 2003. There is no word yet on how many copies of the 'Guardians' soundtrack on cassette will be available for purchase.

'Guardians of the Galaxy' is the highest grossing film in the U.S. and Canada in 2014. As of Oct. 19, it has already earned a staggering $328 million at the box office. Likewise, earnings in other countries have already reached $404.4 million, making the worldwide total earnings at $732.5 million. It became the fourteenth movie of the year to have grossed more than $300 million which the film had achieved in a span of 10 days.

'Guardians of the Galaxy' is produced by Marvel Studios and distributed by Walt Disney Studios Motion Pictures. It is the fourth Marvel Studios film and the third Walt Disney Studios release to have grossed more than $700 million which the film had achieved by Oct. 16, 2014. The other top-grossing films were 'The Avengers,' 'Iron Man 3,' and 'Captain America: The Winter Soldier.'

The songs in the album play an important part in the film. The main character of the film kept all the songs on a mix tape which he listens to using a Walkman. It was his late mother who gave him the tape player. The set's music is played throughout the movie and the cassette tape itself has a significant role in the story.

The limited edition 'Guardians of the Galaxy: Awesome Mix Vol. 1' will have a total of twelve songs. Some of these songs are Blue Swede's Hooked on a Feeling, Raspberries' Go All the Way, Norman Greenbaum's Spirit in the Sky, David Bowie's Moonage Daydream, Elvin Bishop's Fooled Around and Fell in Love, 10cc's I'm Not in Love and The Jackson 5's I Want You Back.

By August 2014, the 'Guardians' soundtrack reached the top of the Billboard 200 chart. By September 2014, it became the second best-selling soundtrack album in the US with a total sold number of 426,000 copies.

The soundtrack is exclusively available to the independent retailer's community on the occasion of Record Store Day which will go on until Dec. 31.
