There have already been several leaked pictures of the unreleased Motorola Droid Turbo. However, a new image acquired by Evan Blass (@evleaks) through Verizon's web code shows the best look at the phone's face among the pictures leaked so far.
The Droid smartphone series is the product of an exclusive smartphone partnership between Motorola and Verizon. Motorola will be exclusively manufacturing the Droid smartphones for Verizon, as the company looks to add more high-powered devices into its lineup for its subscribers to choose from.
The leaked image shows both the front and back of the Droid Turbo, with a "metalized fiber glass" chassis and a Kevlar coating that is seen in its predecessor, the Droid Maxx.
The design of the device, which comes in either red or black, also looks like it drew inspiration from the devices that Motorola has been most recently working on, namely the Moto X and the Nexus 6.
The smartphone has capacitive buttons located in its bottom bezel, which will allow users to choose between options to go back, home, or to a list of recently-accessed apps. This is a feature that was glaringly missing from the Moto X, which required users to do all their navigation through the touchscreen.
From the pictures, it seems that there will be no MicroSD card slot for expandable memory, which is not what users would want to be a disadvantage that the Droid Turbo would inherit from the Moto X. The Droid Turbo is rumored to have a memory of only 32GB.
The camera is expected to be of 21 megapixels, according to another leak of the device's instruction manual that showed the camera's specifications. The Turbo will be using a pair of LEDs, located on either side of the camera lens, for the camera's flash as opposed to the ring flash used in the Moto X.
As for the smartphones operating system, the Droid Turbo is expected to be running on an altered version of Motorola's near-stock Android. Leaked images show the smartphone running on Android 4.4 but no official announcement has been made yet regarding the Droid Turbo's operating system version.
The name of the Droid refers to the significant upgrade that the smartphone receives compared to the Moto X. It is believed that the Droid Turbo will feature a 2.7GHz quad-core Snapdragon processor and 3GB RAM. One of the smartphone's most exciting features is its 3,900mAh battery, which will reportedly bring 48 hours of battery life on a single charge. Combined with the Turbo Charge feature of Motorola, which can provide 8 hours of battery life in just 15 minutes of charging, the Droid Turbo will pack massive battery power.
Price and availability details for the Droid Turbo are still unknown, details which could only be revealed when Verizon and Motorola officially unveil the device on Oct. 28.
