Sprint has scrambled to join two other major carriers — T-Mobile and AT&T — in offering the LG V20. The company has announced that its consumers will be able to preorder on Oct. 21 while the device itself will ship several days later.
Google Pixel and Pixel XL are poised to beat the LG V20 as the handsets that will first come with Android Nougat right out of the box if it hits store by Oct. 20. But this case is only true in the United States. The smartphone has been available as early as September in South Korea and other parts of the world, sporting the latest Android version.
Certainly, the LG device is currently gaining a significant amount of attention. This can largely be attributed to the way it is priced. While Sprint, like T-Mobile, did not reveal pricing information, AT&T values the smartphone's base model at an eye-popping $830. It is, therefore, safe to say that Sprint's own pricing scheme will hover around that figure.
This is not to say, however, that Sprint's LG V20 would be an outrageously impractical purchase. Like the T-Mobile and AT&T variant, Sprint will also ship the phone with a Bang & Olufsen H3 headphones, which retails for about $149 in the market. The carrier will also slash the price by as much as $200 if a customer trades in an older device.
Interested buyers will also find several attractive value propositions such as a Quad HD 5.7-inch screen and the Hi-Fi Quad DAC audio technology for a premium sound quality. Unlike the V10's plastic construction, the V20 now boasts of aluminum body that can purportedly withstand accidental drops. The device also has a secondary display, a tiny 2-inch LCD strip located above the main display.
Under the hood, the specs will hold its own against flagship devices by Samsung, HTC or the recently announced Google Pixel smartphones. It runs on Snapdragon 820 and 4GB of RAM. The device also features dual rear camera (16 MP + 8 MP), and packs a 3,200 mAh battery. Sprint, however, is focusing on its imaging, video and audio recording features in its promotional campaign.
"The all-new LG V20 takes an enormous leap forward for mobile video, making it easy to share life the way it really looks and sounds," Rod Millar, senior vice president of Product Development at Sprint, said in an official statement. "With V20, you can easily capture crystal-clear video and audio to share these moments exactly as you experienced them."
