The LG V20 still hasn't been released in the U.S. but customers planning to purchase the phablet can check out a new promo video. LG has posted how the V20's new Signature Wallpaper feature works and how to use it.
Smartphone fans have some great new options when choosing a new flagship phablet. The Galaxy S7 edge remains a top pick and the company's 5.7-inch Galaxy Note 7 was all but assured of being the top selling phablet, as many analysts believed it would top iPhone 7 Plus in sales. A highly publicized recall of the Galaxy Note 7 has reportedly increased sales of the iPhone 7 Plus, as customer confidence in Samsung has waned.
While Apple has benefited from Galaxy Note 7's battery fiasco, LG is poised to benefit as well. Google has given the LG V20 the honor of being the first smartphone to launch with the Android 7.0 Nougat.
Google has previously launched major new versions of Android on its Nexus smartphones. The company is expected to launch new Pixel and Pixel XL at an Oct. 4 event, which will launch with a newer version of Nougat with visual changes, Android 7.1 to be exact.
LG announced the LG V20 in early September but hasn't yet released the phablet in the US, although it's expected to go on sale in October. LG has posted a new promotional video, which shows the phablet's new Signature Wallpaper feature in action.
While it may not be the most exciting new feature, it is a sign we're getting closer to an official release. In case you're wondering what a Signature Wallpaper is, it's a lock screen wallpaper that adds the first letter of your name to the background of your LG V20 screen.
LG supplies a bunch of different wallpapers you can choose from that best show off the first letter of your name. Again, not the most groundbreaking feature to make a promotional video about; hopefully we get more exciting ones in the near future as we patiently wait for an official LG V20 release date.
The LG V20 was already likely to become one of the biggest selling Android phablets of the year before Samsung's Galaxy Note 7 battery issue occurred, as LG loaded it up with impressive specs and enhanced design.
The LG V20 is constructed out of premium metal and glass and features a vibrant 5.7-inch 2,560 x 1,440 pixels Quad HD display. It remains one of the only flagship smartphones to include both a microSD expansion slot and a removable battery. A Qualcomm Snapdragon 820 chip and 4 GB of RAM will keep Android 7.0 Nougat running smoothly.
