Best Android Phones With 5.5 Inch Or Larger Display: Samsung Galaxy A8, Blu Vivo 5R, LG V20 And Google Pixel XL

Smartphones are available in different sizes but many customers look to buy a bigger mobile phone that offers them a great video watching and mobile gaming experience.

Here are some of the best Android handsets with a screen size of 5.5-inch or above.

Samsung Galaxy A8

Samsung announced and released the Galaxy A8 in July 2015. The Galaxy A8 sports a big 5.7-inch screen with a display resolution of 1,920 x 1,080 pixels.

The Samsung offering comes running on a quad-core Qualcomm Snapdragon 615 processor clocked at 1.5 GHz and 2 GB of RAM. It is available with 16 GB and 32 GB internal storage options and customers can expand the storage capacity to up to 256 GB with a microSD card.

The Galaxy A8 is equipped with a 16-megapixel rear-facing camera and a 5-megapixel selfie camera.

The handset comes running on Android 5.1 Lollipop straight out of the box but it has also received Android 6.0 Marshmallow software update.

The 16 GB model of the Galaxy A8 is currently available on Amazon at $332.49.

Blu Vivo 5R

Blu Products announced the Vivo 5R on Sept. 12 and the handset just hit the shelves on Sept. 23. The phone has a 5.5-inch display with 1,920 x 1,080 pixels resolution.

A 1.5 GHz MediaTek processor and 3 GB of RAM powers the device. The Vivo 5R has a 13-megapixel primary camera and an 8-megapixel front-facing camera.

The handset is available with 32 GB of internal storage with the option to expand the storage capacity to an additional 64 GB with a microSD card. The phone is shipped with Android 6.0 Marshmallow operating system.

In the U.S., customers will have to pay $199.99 to purchase the phone from Amazon.

LG V20

The LG V20 was officially unveiled on Sept. 6 but a release date of the device remains unconfirmed. T-Mobile has listed the LG V20 on its website with a "coming soon" label, which hints that the phone will be released sooner than later. The phone has a 5.7-inch IPS LCD screen with a display resolution of 1,440 x 2,560 pixels.

Under the hood are a 2.1 GHz quad-core Qualcomm Snapdragon 820 chipset and 4 GB of RAM. The top-end phone has 16-megapixel dual rear-facing cameras and a 5-megapixel front camera.

It has 64 GB of on-board storage but customers can increase the storage capacity up to 2 TB with a microSD card.

The LG V20 is one of the first smartphones to come running on Android 7.0 Nougat out of the box.

The price of the phone remains unknown but the unlocked model could retail for $799 in the U.S.

Google Pixel XL

The Pixel line of smartphones are rumored to replace the Nexus handsets. If rumors are to be believed then Google may launch two new handsets this year dubbed Pixel and Pixel XL.

Although, specs of the two Pixel phones are not yet confirmed, rumors suggest that the Pixel XL will sport a big 5.5-inch display with 1,440 x 2,560 pixels resolution.

The Pixel XL could come running on Qualcomm Snapdragon 820 SoC and 4 GB of RAM. Customers can expect it to be available with 32 GB or 128 GB internal storage options.

If rumors are true, then the Pixel XL could sport 13-megapixel rear-facing and 5-megapixel front-facing cameras.

Normally, Google devices are the first to come running on a new Android operating system. The Pixel and Pixel XL are highly likely to be the first devices to run on Android 7.0 Nougat.

Rumor has it that Google will unveil the Pixel and the Pixel XL on Oct. 4. Smartphone enthusiasts will have to wait another few weeks to find the exact specs and price of the two Pixel phones.
