Warner Bros. and DC announced the first-ever Cyborg movie: Can the character succeed on his own at the box office?

A few days ago, Warner Bros. announced its slate of DC superhero movies that are scheduled to be released from 2016 to 2020. The slate is arguably what everyone had expected, except for one peculiar thing, a movie based on Cyborg.

Now, this is very surprising because Cyborg, while a member of the Justice League, doesn't have his own comic and is not that popular among fans. This is the main reason why we are surprised the character is getting his own standalone film, as there are so many others Warner and DC could have gone with.

However, what is done is done, so instead of complaining like little children, we're going to look into whether or not Cyborg is capable of bringing an entire movie successfully on his shoulders.

First of all, we should point out that Cyborg was an average teenager before becoming what he is today. He went by the name, Victor Stone, and it was an accident at Star Labs that changed his life forever. He is now a person whose body is almost covered with cybernetics, for without it, he would surely die.

Now, in all honesty, Cyborg isn't much of an interesting character, but he is no doubt a great member to the Justice League. The cybernetics on his body grants him increased strength and speed, and he's also able to hack into almost any system.

Cyborg can also produce all sorts of weapons from his cybernetics, alongside a massive gun that fires deadly energy beams.

From what we can remember, the character is not capable of flight, unless using a jetpack of some sorts.

When it comes down to his arch nemesis, he doesn't have any. The majority of the time Cyborg gets into a battle is because he's a member of the Justice League. Whenever he's not going head-to-head with some unlucky villain, he's back at base providing tactical support.

We should also point out that before joining the Justice League, Cyborg was a part of another group of heroes called Teen Titans. From what we are seeing here, DC has created a hero who is good with a team, but unproven by himself.

So, can he go about it in a movie all by himself? Probably, but it would all depend on the director and the actor. We don't expect a Cyborg only film to scream at the box office, but if the movie is good, it could warrant a second film in the future, and who knows, a Cyborg comic may finally arrive from the ashes.
